Masoor Daal (Red Lentil) Tikki !

Ingredients

  1. Massor Daal (Red Lentil) - Washed - 1 Cup

  2. Onion - finely chopped - 1 small

  3. Ginger finely chopped - To taste

  4. Garlic - finely chopped - To Taste

  5. Cumin Powder - To taste

  6. Chaat Masala - To Taste

  7. Lemon Juice - 1 tsp

  8. Salt - To Taste

  9. Bread Crumbs

  10. Chopped Vegetables (Optional)

  11. Oil - For Shallow fry.

 

Method

  1. Wash and soak the lentils in water for about 2 hours

  2. Drain the water and grind the wet daal with ginger and garlic into a thick paste.

  3. Add 1 tsp oil and chopped onions and any vegetables like grated carrot and spinach as per taste.

  4. Add Salt, Cumin powder, Chaat Masala to taste with 1tsp lemon juice.

  5. If the mixture is too soft to handle - add some bread crumbs to the mixture and make flat cakes (Tikkis) - 0.5" thick with 2" diameter.

  6. Coat the Tikkis in bread crumbs.

  7. Refrigerate for 10-15 mins for the shape to set.

  8. Shallow Fry/ Fry in an Air fryer and serve with your favourite chutney/ketchup.
